Some folks actually follow celebrities from city to city with the objective of taking pictures with these well known actors, musicians, athletes, etc. You’ll never catch me doing anything like that. I’ve actually had opportunities to meet many people in those fields whose work I admire such as George Clinton, Chris Webber, Forest Whitaker, and Derek Jeter. But I passed on walking up to them because although I respect their craft, I just don’t see what they do as something deserving of that level of adulation. At least not from me. What I mean is, it’s not like Jeter, Michael Jordan, or Prince— as talented as they are, have made significant contributions towards eliminating oppression or racism with their basketball, acting, or performance skills. Besides, those people, as a result of the favorable position they occupy within the capitalist system as people whose skills are utilized to promote profit over people, are consistently approached by multitudes of people. So, as a rule, I’d never walk up to celebrities under any type of circumstances.

Newton for urging the formation of an all-black fighting unit to assist the Vietnamese National Liberation Front. Newton cofounded the Black Panther Party for Self-Defense with Bobby Seale in 1966 and had recently been released on a technicality after spending thirty-three months in prison for the killing of Oakland police officer John Frey. Wilkins saw Black Power militancy as cynical and misguided. “The Viet Cong may be hurting,” Wilkins wrote, “but nothing like the hurting of John Q. Black American. . . . Of course, Huey knows about this suffering. It was the resentment over this treatment that led, at least in part, to the founding of the Black Panthers. But Huey, for all his talents, is also a revolutionary. Revolutionaries get confused.”

We should understand there is a difference between the rebellion of the anarchists and the black revolution or liberation of the black colony.

This is a class society; it always has been. This reactionary class society places its limitations on individuals, not just in terms of their occupation, but also regarding self expression, being mobile, and being free to really be creative and do anything they want to do.

The class-society prevents this. This is true not only for the mass of the lower or subjugated class. It is also true within the ruling class, the master class. That class also limits the freedom of the individual souls of the people which comprise it.

In the upper class, the individuals always try to free themselves from these limitations — the artificial limitations placed upon him through external sources: namely, some hierarchy that goes by the name of State or Governmental Administration.

In America, we have not only a class society, we also have a caste system, and black people are fitted into the lowest caste. They have no mobility for going up the class ladder. They have no privilege to enter into the ruling structure at all.

Within the ruling class they’re objecting (resisting?), because the people have found that they’re completely subjected to the will of the administration and to the manipulators. This brings about a very strange phenomenon in American. That is, many of the rebelling white students and the anarchists are the offspring of this master class. Surely most of them have a middle class background and some even upper class. They see the limitations imposed upon them and no they’re striving, as all men strive, to get freedom of the soul, Freedom of expression, and freedom of movement, without the artificial limitations from antique values.

Blacks and colored people in America, confined within the caste system, are discriminated against as a whole group of people. It’s not a question of individual freedom, as it is for the children of the upper classes. We haven’t reached the point of trying to free ourselves individually because we’re dominated and oppresses as a group of people.

(KGO) -- Ninth Street at the intersection of Mandela Parkway in Oakland has been renamed after the revolutionary founder of the Black Panther Party: Dr. Huey P. Newton Way.

On what would be his 79th birthday, a three-block stretch of 9th street in West Oakland now bears Huey P. Newton's name.

Fredrika Newton, founder of the Dr. Huey P. Newton Foundation and Newton's widow, was filled with joy.

"I'm overwhelmed. It's our first tangible result of so much effort and not the last," said Newton.

"Huey made Oakland a place for revolutionary organizations to come together," says Xavier Buck, Deputy Director of the Dr. Huey P. Newton Foundation.

Doctor Newton is one of the co-founders of the Black Panther Party. He was shot and killed at this street corner in 1989.

Thank those he left behind
In January 1990, activist Akua Njeri attended the funeral of William O’Neal, the man responsible for leaking information to Chicago police that aided in their assassination of her fiancée, Black Panther leader Fred Hampton, in 1969.

“I had planned to spit in the casket and then turn it over,” she said by phone from Chicago. “But when I got there, it didn’t look like O’Neal in the casket and I froze. I kept saying, ‘That’s not him.’ One of the brothers there said, ‘Oh yeah, that’s him.’ But it was a different O’Neal that was in the casket. So I didn’t get to do what I had planned for days to do.”

A career criminal turned FBI informant, the 17-year-old O’Neal infiltrated the Black Panther Party and quickly climbed the ranks to become one of the heads of Hampton’s security. He gave the FBI the layout of the apartment Hampton shared with Njeri and slipped the sedative secobarbital in Hampton’s drink so he wouldn’t wake up during the police raid and assassination. Hampton was just 21 years old when he was murdered. Read More...

The Black Panther newspaper reported the shootings this way:

Spurgeon (Jake) Winters, 19, member of the Illinois chapter of the Black Panther party, paid the most that one can pay towards the liberation of oppressed people in his life. At 3:30 AM, November 13, Jake was murdered in a shoot-out in Chicago where three Pigs were killed and seven were wounded. The shoot-out was precipitated by an ambush made by the standing Army of Chicago (Chicago Police Department) on an abandoned building at 5801 S. Calumet. Arriving on the scene with the armaments and men (more than 1,000 policemen equipped with .12-gauge shotguns, M-1 carbines, .357 magnums, billy clubs, mace, tear gas, paddy wagons, helicopters, and canine units) for domestic warfare against the people in the Black colony, these fanatical pigs started their attack by opening fire on the brother in the building. Party comrade, Lance Bell, 20, was wounded by the pigs as they shot wildly in that area…. Jake defended himself as any person should do. In essence, he had no choice; it was kill or be killed. Read More...

The party also created its own signature cocktail, one that harbors some of the key ingredients for social change.

Party Leader Huey P. Newton's unofficial office was a soul food restaurant-bar in North Oakland called Bosn's Locker. Newton would hold court with the community for hours, often with his shotgun on display as the symbol of the party's work for the survival of Black life through armed self-defense from police violence.

"We drank beer and wine and chewed over our political situation, our social problems, and the merits and shortcomings of other groups. We also discussed the Black achievements of the past, particularly as they helped us to understand current events," wrote Huey P. Newton in his memoir Revolutionary Suicide. "In a sense, these sessions at Bobby [Seale's] house were our political education classes, and the Party sort of grew out of them." Read More...

Meanwhile in the mainstream, celebrities, activists, and public figures frequently don Black Panther aesthetics to signal their adherence to a certain type of revolutionary politics. Even despite the visual and ideological links between the Black Panther Party and organizing in the present, many Black Panther Party members who are still alive today have largely been rendered invisible by prison walls and forgotten by the broader public. Read More...

It's A National Day Of Mourning
This year marks the 400th anniversary of pilgrims arriving at what’s now known as Plymouth, Massachusetts.

The so-called first Thanksgiving has been celebrated and taught to schoolchildren as the origin story of what would later become the United States. But many Native Americans say Thanksgiving Day is a reminder of the slaughter of millions of Indigenous people and the theft of their lands by outsiders. Read More...

Quinn Foster, an organizer of the protest in Zinc, Arkansas, told Insider that he had received more than 100 death threats from opponents of the Black Lives Matter movement before the protest. He said white supremacists were trying to normalize their beliefs, existence, and activities in Arkansas.

"I knew that a lot of the white supremacists and militia folks are extremely reliant on gun-powder-based weapons ... I needed something that was going to be a deterrent," Foster told Insider. "It could be readily available as a defensive weapon very quickly if I needed to get people to back up or stop shooting in our direction."

The protest occurred in Zinc, near the compound of the Ku Klux Klan leader Thomas Robb.

One of the biggest issues with perceived notions of Black excellence is the ways it is contributed to uncritical perceived notions of success. There is an avoidance in acknowledging that “Black excellence” is rooted in a colonial narrative of what makes someone exceptional. Circumstantially, that perception is determined by what we deem “success”. The contradictions of Black excellence is most evident in the romanticizing of The Obamas.

Barack Obama’s 8-year presidency has been a surface level achievement for the Black community based on identity reductionism. After all, he is the FIRST Black president. But a closer inspection of those 8 years speaks to everything BUT achievements for Black communities. Domestically, the neoliberal policies that drove the Obama administration embraced militarized policing, increased state-sanctioned violence protected by the Blue Alert Law, produced growth of the gig economy, secured displacement through heightened gentrification ( which was supported by a Wall Street bailout), an inadequate healthcare coverage plan, and the expansion of surveillance.

On April 30th, hundreds of white protestors — several of them carrying assault rifles, Confederate flags, Nazi symbols, and nooses — clamored in Lansing, Michigan to protest stay-at-home orders enacted to protect the public from the deadly COVID-19 pandemic, which has killed almost 80,000 people in the United States. In response to the protests, three Black community activists showed up to the capitol — where it is legal to bear arms — with their own rifles, intending to safely escort Black lawmaker Rep. Sarah Anthony (D-MI) into the building.

“We were all just appalled by the lack of support and lack of security that I had, that other legislators had, and the fact that a lot of the demonstrators last week were adorning many racist, anti-Semitic signage,” Anthony told City Pulse. “I think it just triggered a lot of folks, especially African Americans.”

A few days after this incident, Black America was triggered yet again by the leaking of a horrific video showing the February 23rd killing of 25 year-old Ahmaud Arbery by two white male assailants, father-son duo Gregory McMichael, age 64, and Travis McMichael, age 34. On May 7th, after two months of eluding punishment, the Georgia Bureau of Investigations arrested and charged them with murder.

In the early months of the Great Depression, Herbert Hoover was fond of saying that “prosperity is just around the corner.” At the same time, millions were losing their jobs, facing utility shut offs and evictions, moving into tent encampments and shantytowns, and standing in bread lines that stretched for hours. In 1929 there was no public social safety net or welfare programs, not even as we know them in their fractured form today. Instead, the state’s response was to attend to Wall Street and direct the poor and newly-dispossessed toward a patchwork and intolerant system of private relief agencies and religious aid organizations. Denying the government had any larger responsibility for its people, Hoover would later explain that “the basis of successful relief in national distress is to mobilize…agencies of relief help in the community. This has been the American way.”

Arbery is the African American jogger in Georgia who was confronted and shot by a father and son vigilante team from a pick up truck.

At this stage of the investigation it seems Arbery’s sole crime was “jogging while Black.” I only recently became aware of this case, and admittedly, was hesitant to speak out until all the facts were known.

I live in St. Louis and the shooting of Michael Brown, and the civil unrest later, taught me and others a valuable lesson about waiting for all the facts.

The narrative of “hands up, don’t shoot” became a national rallying cry for activists and those seeking justice for Michael Brown and his family.

We later learned from the grand jury and the FBI that “hands up, don’t shoot” was a fabrication used maliciously to pour gasoline on an already inflammatory situation.

There were tears, remembrances and many references to the young man’s wit, intelligence, penchant for deep thought and philosophy, and his ever-present and voiced desire to forge a righteous path to help bring a better understanding of the major issues holding the world back. Al-Hajj Talib Abdur-Rashid, imam at Mosque of Islamic Brotherhood, conducted the burial service. He read and quoted from the Quran, interspersing tales of Malcolm’s personality, achievements and actions with axioms meant to inspire and comfort.

Shabazz’s aunts—and Malcolm X and Betty Shabazz’s daughters—Attallah, Ilyasah, Gamilah and Malaak hugged grieving mom Quibilah, who was stoic throughout the service.

As the death rate rose across the country, it hit home here in the River City when the co-founder of the Sacramento Branch of the Black Panther Party became a casualty of COVID-19.

Esutosin Omowale Osunkoya, born Charles L. Brunson, left, passed away this week from complications of COVID-19. His wife, Margo, right, was also hospitalized with the coronavirus, but has recovered.

Esutosin Omowale Osunkoya (born Charles L. Brunson — what he called his “government name”) passed away from the complications of COVID-19, also known as coronavirus, on Monday, April 13, at the University of California Medical Center, UC Medical Center. He was 76.

Brunson checked into UC Medical Center on April 1. He was accompanied by his wife, Oak Park native Margo Rose Brunson. Ms. Brunson was also diagnosed with the virus after she returned to the hospital the next day. She was released from the medical institution on April 15.

After receiving treatment around the clock, Margo Rose Brunson miraculously survived a disease she refers to as a “mad, vicious, mean fighter.” Unfortunately, when they were separated by seven floors at the hospital, her husband expired.

Bruson will be buried at Sacramento Valley National Cemetery in Dixon on Tuesday, April 21, during a private service among family members. Ms. Brunson did not get efficacy, but she said the medical staff did its best and more.

In the 1970s, he sent Cuban troops to Angola to support a left-wing government over the initial objections of Russia. Cuba helped defeat South African insurgents in Angola and win Namibia’s independence from South Africa in 1990, adding pressure on the apartheid regime. After Nelson Mandela was freed from prison in 1990, he repeatedly thanked Castro. We feature excerpts of Castro speaking about Cuba’s role in Angola and South Africa, including a clip of his first meeting with anti-apartheid leader Nelson Mandela, and speak with Bill Fletcher, a founder of the Black Radical Congress, and Peter Kornbluh, director of the Cuba Documentation Project and co-author of “Back Channel to Cuba: The Hidden History of Negotiations Between Washington and Havana.”

“COVID-19 proves that the United States’ war on the world is a drag on humanity.”

U.S. imperialism has a long-standing habit of imposing the most brutal forms of war and torture onto nations under the pretext of so-called humanitarian grounds. Humanitarian intervention and the “Responsibility to Protect” (R2P) have been used to destroy Libya, Syria, and Somalia and turn them into “failed states.” In many cases, however, these states were declared failures prior to U.S. intervention. Failure in the eyes of U.S. imperialism and its legion of profiteers is defined as any oppressed nation’s refusal to bow down to the economic and political dictates of a foreign imperial power. To be a “failed state” has always been a declaration of war by the U.S. and its imperial allies on the most oppressed and downtrodden nations of the world. What the hubris and racism of American exceptionalism and humanitarianism masks is that the U.S. is an actually existing failed state. COVID-19 has exposed this fact to the masses.

The resentment that black social justice activists have been feeling towards Bill and Hillary Clinton's 1994 crime bill reached its apex at a Philadelphia campaign rally Thursday in which Bill Clinton was heckled and faced down signs like "CLINTON Crime Bill Destroyed Our Communities."

In February, Michelle Alexander, law professor and author of “The New Jim Crow: Mass Incarceration in the Age of Colorblindness” penned an essay titled, "Hillary Clinton doesn't deserve the Black vote."

The Violent Crime Control and Law Enforcement Act of 1994 contained an expansion of the federal death penalty to include drug offenses, the "Three Strikes, You're Out" rule, and billions in funding for police, prisons, and states that made it harder for people to get parole (though Mr. Clinton neglected to mention this when he mentioned that most prisoners are incarcerated by the state).

Hayes joined the Black Panther Party after the assassination of Martin Luther King Jr. He worked in the party’s free medical clinics and free breakfast programs. In 1973, he was convicted of the killing of a New York City transit officer, which he has always denied. He has displayed this in, not only words, but actions.
Over the years of his presidency, he’s “greatly abused his power” although one can argue they all do. As of late, however, the ghost of failed impeachment proceedings has risen up once again—- but could this time be different?

There seems to be some confusion about what impeachment actually is. The mainstream media, for their own purposes, has done much to define impeachment as “removing someone from office”. An impeachment is a charge of misconduct made against the holder of a public office — a president or any other federal official. An equivalent to an indictment in criminal law, it does not remove the official from office.

In the U.S. Constitution, Article II, section 4, it states:

“The President, Vice President and all Civil Officers of the United States, shall be removed from Office on Impeachment for, and Conviction of, Treason, Bribery, or other high Crimes and Misdemeanors.”

It’s cold out there and getting colder, but the people inside are cozy on the sofa with the TV on and a blanket on their laps. But there’s that knock again: at the front door now, then the side door, then the back. Maybe it’s the wind. Now there’s knocking at the windows and the roof and the walls of the house—who knew they were so thin? It’s hard to understand: How could so many people be knocking all at once?

But they are, and it’s getting louder. Last week you could hear the banging in Colombia—in Bogotá, Cali, Cartagena, Barranquilla, Medellín, a curfew declared, the army in the streets—and the week before that in Iran, a steady beat that quickly spread to more than 100 cities. At least 100 protesters have been killed so far. It’s hard to know if there were more, or exactly what is going on: The government shut off the Internet on the protests’ second day. But even when there’s a steady connection, it’s hard to put it all together: Protests have been roiling through Algeria, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Egypt, France, Germany, Guinea, Haiti, Honduras, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Iran, Iraq, Lebanon, the Netherlands, Spain, Sudan, the UK, and Zimbabwe—I’m sure I’m leaving someplace out—and that’s only since September. Some have been the fleeting, routine sort that snarls up traffic for a day. Others look more like revolutions, big enough to topple governments, shut down entire nations.

The Protect and Serve Act of 2018 is totally superfluous, since cops are already the most protected “class” in the nation. Nearly a million sworn officers inhabit a legal dominion of their own, where immunity from prosecution for even the most heinous crimes is the norm. As People for the American Way point out : “All fifty states have laws that enhance penalties for people who commit offenses against law enforcement officers, including for homicide and assault,” and federal laws already “impose a life sentence or death penalty on persons convicted of first-degree murder of federal employees or officers, killing state and local law enforcement officers or other employees assisting with federal investigations, and killing officers of the U.S. courts.” However, like the Israel lobby, the cop lobby demands abject, groveling obeisance from the people’s representatives — lest there be any doubt as to who rules in either of the world’s white settler states.

The Protect and Serve Act, which sailed through the U.S. House on a vote of 382 to 35 , is a “Blue Lives Matter” bill that serves no other purpose than to give a giant middle finger to the Black Lives Matter movement. When the cops demanded to know, Which side are you on? three-quarters of the Congressional Black Caucus kissed the feet of the Blue Beast: “Your side, Boss!”

Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Corbett has signed into law a bill that critics say tramples the free speech rights of prisoners. The "Revictimization Relief Act" authorizes the censoring of public addresses of prisoners or former offenders if judges agree that allowing them to speak would cause "mental anguish" to the victim. The measure was introduced after one of the state's most famous prisoners, journalist and former Black Panther Mumia Abu-Jamal, delivered a pretaped commencement address for graduating students at Vermont’s Goddard College earlier this month. The speech was opposed by the widow of Daniel Faulkner, the police officer who Abu-Jamal was convicted of killing. The American Civil Liberties Union of Pennsylvania has criticized the new measure, calling it "overbroad and vague," and unable to "pass constitutional muster under the First Amendment." Speaking to us from prison, Abu-Jamal says that "by signing that bill into law, [Gov. Corbett] has violated both of his oaths as governor and as an attorney."

Dhoruba explained that there was agents undercover trying to get information on the group who were recording radical statements made by other people they didn't know also agents. He pointed out that the confusing situation led to a case being brought against the group that lasted eight months and was one of the most expensive cases in New York history at the time. In the end, all 156 charges were dropped against the group, although Dhoruba said that the judge conspired to make the group lose the case. He explained that the judge showed a movie about the Algerian Revolution to the jury, falsely claiming that they used it as a tool to turn people into revolutionaries, which the jury didn't go along with.

Newton, ‘Chief Theoretician’ of the Black Panther Party," by
Delio Vasquez June 11, 2018 Viewpoint Magazine

Newton’s theory of intercommunalism seeks to provide an explanation for the dominating and ultimately determining political force of American capitalist empire on the world stage, the corresponding decline of the political influence of nation-states, and the deterioration of nationalism as a potentially liberatory political ideology. He refers to this condition and phase of capitalism as reactionary intercommunalism. According to Newton in 1970, nation-states can no longer meaningfully be said to exist. Instead, global capital has, through U.S. empire in particular, reduced the world to a collection of communities that lack control over their local conditions of life and which can at most only become autonomous “liberated territories” within that larger empire. These communities can, however, by seizing the material structures that allow for production, technology, and information media, fight to build an interconnected and “coöperative framework” among themselves in a global dynamic that he calls revolutionary intercommunalism. 25 In the words of Elaine Brown, chairwoman of the BPP from 1974 to 1977, Newton’s notion of reactionary intercommunalism is an early conceptualization of what is today “casually euphemized by the capitalist class as ‘globalization.’” 26 The theory of intercommunalism as a whole is an attempt to both describe how revolutionary change might be expected to unfold going forward given these conditions of global empire but also to prescribe how one might go about playing an agential role in such a project. Dialectical materialism is Newton’s preferred method for understanding how one might come to derive what that role is, given that it is not static and pre-established, but must be assessed from an analysis of material conditions as they develop. “The concept of intercommunalism not only accurately describes and defines the situation, it also implies our obligation to unify and share with these dispersed communities the wealth which has been stolen from them and centralized here in the United States.” 27 During the particular turning point in the history of the Black Panther Party when he developed the theory, Newton was also deeply concerned with how Black people in particular might attain liberation without relying upon a state that purports to represent them as a people or nation. According to Newton, any efforts by Black people to gain national sovereignty or independence while global capitalism still exists could only lead to alternate forms of subjugation under American empire.
Huey P Newton Gun Clubtag:hueypnewtongunclub.org,2005:Post/58349442019-07-17T08:55:00-05:002019-07-24T10:56:12-05:00Revolutionary Intercommunalism: Not Some Cool Idea
Revolutionary Intercommunalism is not just some cool idea Huey P. Newton had as in a utopian pipe dream. It is in fact the logical and necessary next step in human social evolution/revolution. Huey, and the central committee of the original Black Panther Party (BPP), arrived at this theory by applying Marxism (Dialectical Materialism) to make a fresh analysis of how the world was hooked up at that time (1970) and the trajectory of its development. This was necessary because they were serious revolutionaries, and as Marx explained:

“Men make their own history, but they do not make it as they please; they do not make it under self-selected circumstances, but under circumstances existing already, given and transmitted from the past. The tradition of all dead generations weighs like a nightmare on the brains of the living. And just as they seem to be occupied with revolutionizing themselves and things, creating something that did not exist before, precisely in such epochs of revolutionary crisis they anxiously conjure up the spirits of the past to their service, borrowing from them names, battle slogans, and costumes in order to present this new scene in world history in time-honored disguise and borrowed language.”

On the night of May 9, 2013, while at the Palace Club, a downtown bar, prosecutors contend that Shabazz consumed several drinks, saying he had a blood alcohol level of more than three times the legal limit for driving in the U.S. Allegedly, he and Suarez ran up a $1,200 bar tab, which included the companionship of women, after being bamboozled by local hustlers, who routinely prey on tourists.

As the pair tried to leave the bar at around 3 a.m., a confrontation occurred with two waiters, David Hernandez Cruz, 26, and Perez de Jesus. Shabazz and Suarez were supposedly separated by bar employees at gunpoint, but, for unknown reasons, only Shabazz was assaulted, while Suarez supposedly slipped away unharmed to get help.

Huey P. Newton is now being discovered by those interested in the history of America’s social movements. This recent release of a classic collection of his writings and speeches traces the development of Newton’s personal and political thinking, as well as the radical changes that took place in the formative years of the Black Panther Party. More than just a historic record, Newton’s prescience and foresight make these documents strikingly pertinent today.

Like many of my comrades, original Black Panther Party members, I have for years watched these strutting caricatures who call themselves the New Black Panther Party and expressed my disgust. First of all, I say there is no such thing as a “New” Black Panther Party. If this group is anything, it is a collective of racist, reactionary thugs and tools of the still-very-much-alive Cointelpro government agency.

Like others, I have had to explain to many folks, who are not aware of what the Black Panther Party was about, what our original BPP history and legacy is and what damage these thieving, reactionary mimics have done to that legacy. This makes me angry, as I am now 77 years old, with just a limited amount of energy, and I am getting tired of doing this. So, in the past, I have limited my comments to an extent, as I have always felt that these fools need to be given as little acknowledgment and public attention as possible.

I have always felt that it was just a matter of time before they self-destructed. Since coming to public notice, this group has shown itself to be little more than opportunistic, treading on the work, dedication, and sacrifices of others.

After all, what community programs have they created in all these years? What good have all their racist epithets or their military-style formations in black uniforms done our Black communities? What kind of learning institutions or medical centers have they opened?

Huey P. Newton co-founded the Black Panther Party in 1966 to end the capitalistic oppression of all people in the United States, which included fighting directly against police terrorism targeting African Americans. At the founding of the party, they were Black Nationalists. Newton’s analysis of struggle and revolution within the United States and throughout the world evolved, and from that day until this one various formation and tendencies have identified with the Black Panther Party. These formations have used the name and history to further agendas and platforms that promote Black Nationalism, Black Separatism and the formation of a Black only nation or colony within the United States.

In 1970, Comrade Newton introduced “Revolutionary Intercommunalism” and moved past the ideology of Black Nationalism and Revolutionary Nationalism. Comrade Newton argued that “Using the dialectical materialist method, we in the Black Panther Party saw that the United States was no longer a nation. If colonies cannot “decolonize” and return to their original existence as nations, then nations no longer exist. And since there must be nations for revolutionary nationalism or internationalism to make sense, we decided that we would have to call ourselves something new.”

In 2014, I co-founded the Huey P. Newton Gun Club based solely on issues of police brutality faced here in the City of Dallas. Dallas Communities Organizing for Change showed concretely through research and analysis that “police terrorism” did indeed exist and has continued to exist, as we see with the recent murder Botham Jean. The formation that I founded was a COALITION of various groups with CONFLICTING ideologies, some socialist, others Black Nationalist. Huey P. Newton was neither of the two, but rather something deeper, something more scientific. Comrade Newton’s perspective originated not in the separation of the people from, and the necessary destruction of an oppressive system, but in the love of the people. The Black Panther Party and Comrade Newton founded the ideology of Revolutionary Intercommunalism in the United States over 40 years ago, and I admit that the Huey P. Newton Gun Club at its creation did not and does not currently function under its namesake’s beliefs. This is an egregious mistake, an error I take personal responsibility for, and will now correct.

With that being stated, I CALL FOR THE CREATION OF THE HUEY P. NEWTON GUN CLUB ALPHA COMPANY, a new cadre with the following guidelines:

The Huey P. Newton Gun Club

(Alpha Company Requirements & Guidelines)

1. Read and understand the ideology of Huey P. Newton, through books and his speeches. Constant political education is required. Our primary function is as a collective based developing political ideology and programs to educate the people. We are NOT a Panther formation of present-day or past design, The Black Panther Party existed from 1966-1982, since then there have been several revisions or efforts to resurrect the Party. We do not wish to follow that path but desire only to stand and exist on the ideals of Huey P. Newton and grow further in the 21 century.

2. Each local cadre is autonomous to their own community.

3. Local meetings required on a monthly basis at a minimum.

4. The company will not exclude any person based on race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, or religious beliefs from joining.

5. Respect ALL elders and former members of the BPP, BLA, SNCC, PG-RNA, and RAM.

6. ALL members are to purchase an HPNGC- Alpha cadre patch and work diligently to purchase at one handgun and one rifle, and other such items necessary to carry out self-defense training and maneuvers.

7. The Alpha Company, its allies, and comrades, in its entirety will hold political education locally on February 17th of each year as a celebration. This will be called “Huey P. Newton Day”

8. Each Chapter will continually seek to recruit new members and promote Revolutionary Intercommunalism.

Outside her mother’s Detroit home last summer, she pulled a gun on a neighbor, who Ra says used her vehicle to hit her car with Ra’s 2-year-old daughter inside, and then tried to “run over” her and her mother. The firearm was not discharged, in fact, Ra alleged the gun was not even loaded. Her attorneys argued that her actions were in self-defense.
FREE RAKEM BALOGUN: STOP THE F.B.I INTIMIDATION OF G.M.F AND ALL SOCIAL AND POLITICAL JUSTICE ORGANIZATIONS. FREE OUR COMRADE AND BROTHER

We as African/Black people have been burdened in the Americas for over five centuries. We rise and organize against oppression when we meet it. We are often discouraged from fighting for liberation and seeking freedom. Our mothers and fathers keep us safe from a world considered not for the children of the enslaved or the undesired. A system of bondage often referred to as the Prison Industrial Complex, becomes a place where millions of us are held daily. Now the U.S government, through the F.B.I., have created a new terrorist classification known as the “Black Identity Extremist”. This conjured classification targets our political leadership and mirrors J. Edgar Hoover’s infamous COINTELPRO program of the 60’s and 70’s. Both programs have been specifically designed to disrupt and destroy black political organizations from achieving real equality and justice.

On Monday morning at 5 am, the FBI and ATF kicked Rakem Balogun’s door down and took him into custody, on a seek and destroy mission in search for illegal weapons. Since that day he has been held captive; essentially kidnapped by the F.B.I.

The F.B.I. report detailing the perceived BIE threat specifically discusses the shooting of Dallas police officers in July 2016. The document was prepared by the F.B.I Domestic Terrorism Analysis Unit and has shown an effort to “criminalize” political organizers with progressive and revolutionary ethics. The Trump administration and prior Presidents have made their desire to derail black revolutionaries through declarations and actions crystal clear. Our struggle as change agents is to instruct and liberate the masses with revolutionary discourse, and we will continue to do so.

Simply, we have a love for our community and people that allow us sanctuary even in the midst of a fraudulent criminal justice system. Rakem Balogun is a co-founder of Geronimo Tactical, Huey P. Newton Gun Club, and a principal member of Guerrilla Mainframe. Our comrade has been a part of many discussions and activities for Black liberation. He synchronized security operations on April 2nd in South Dallas that ran BAIR, a right winged group of armed Trump supporters, out of the Black community and away from Mosque 48. Rakem has stood as an example for the community on issues such as political education, fratricide, and community development. He has been committed to the community, so we will be committed to him.

We, the Rakem Balogun Defense Committee request that you materially and financially support our brother as he fights prosecution by the Federal Government. WE, GUERRILLA MAINFRAME, believe in our right to bear arms and to advocate for political freedom. Finally, we must state that we have had a number of visitations and issues as it relates to the FBI this year. The BIE classification has grown from a report on paper to a national investigation of Black Lives Matter and black gun ownership advocates. Rakem Balogun has been classified as B.I.E, we must defend him, stand with him as he has stood with us!

DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) – Armed men shut down an east Oak Cliff gas station for at least half an hour last week, but Dallas police have yet to file charges.

Video of the incident at Exxon Rayyan, located at the corner of Bonnie View and Illinois, shows at least five men with rifles and shotguns marching up to the store, opening the door, and ushering customers and employees out.

“Come on out. Come on out,” one of the men tells them.

The manager, Ayaz Arien, was inside.

“Where’s the manager? Where’s the manager?” the men ask repeatedly.

“Very, very scary,” said Arien. “When I saw the gun, I said, ‘No I’m not the manager’. I went inside the office. I called the police.”

ADVERTISING

In an online post, one of the men involved claims a clerk at the store had pulled a gun on him and his wife the night before. When police didn’t immediately arrest the employee, he and his friends decided to protest.

“Y’all allow y’all’s employees to pull guns on customers, you’ll aren’t gonna have no customers,” one of the armed men yelled to someone inside the store.

Arien says, he was unaware of the previous night’s dispute and would have listened to the man’s complaint, but not while he was holding a gun.

“Your intention is not to talk, but to hurt someone,” he told us he assumed of anyone approaching with a gun in hand.
Attorney Pete Schulte, though, says as frightening as the scene might seem, the men aren’t necessarily breaking the law.

“They’re allowed to have long guns in their hands as long as they’re not holding them in a threatening manner. I’m not seeing that right now,” said Schulte, as he watched the video.

In portions of the video posted online by the men, they hold their guns in both hands, but leave them either pointed toward the ground or the sky, never in anyone’s direction.

“I didn’t hear any threats that were made to the management or the staff. Their conduct was lawful until they’re told to leave,” said Schulte.

Because the manager didn’t want to risk confronting the men, it’s not clear if they were told to leave, at least not until Dallas police arrived.

After listening to the men’s complaints and speaking with the owner, officers made the crowd move off property.

Police made no arrests and have not filed charges, but a department spokesperson said they are still investigating. Meanwhile, management said that the clerk who upset the protestors has been let go for her behavior, but did not confirm if she had pulled out a gun on any customers.

Newton Gun Club was not formed to be a xenophobic, separatist, or even a political organization. Our goal is not to unify a defunct so-called “New Panther” movement. The Black Panther Party for Self Defense existed from 1966 until 1982, which is entirely different than the groups admiring the past at this moment. I say this with respect to those that truly believe in the slogan, All Power to the People” and want liberation for the masses of African People Worldwide. To comprehend Huey P. Newton is to read his writings, and to understand philosophies of his political ideology. To immerse oneself into revolutionary theory and people’s politics emerging practice with principle. Our yearning is to encourage a well-read political theoretician’s empathetic of international issues and problems. This is completely different than the existing promotion of scholars and rostrum speakers (excluding Malcolm X) as being legitimate revolutionaries, without having armed or combat experience. I recommend if you want to be a revolutionary, then study revolutions, and the influence they shaped on the social order for which it transpired.

Examples are what myself, Rakem Balogun and Babu anticipated we would create by developing a “public” dialogue for African Americans to discuss weapons and safety. We use our weapons as political tools to organize the masses around various concerns, particularly police brutality. Dallas Communities Organizing for Change had been the predecessor in Dallas on the issue since 2010, therefore creating legitimacy for the Huey P. Newton Gun Club. The murder of Tobias Mackey on 10/29/2010 helped solidify the political ambition towards an improvement of the Dallas Police Department as it relates to the treatment of poor people. In creating a Black Gun Rights organization we have consistently stood on specific points, which can change the public outlook on the gun conversation. Dissuading Black on Black Violence, Police Callousness, and Gun Training is the ONLY mission of the Huey P. Newton Gun Club.

In 1987, Fahim J. Minkah and “African American Men Against Narcotics” (AAMAN) reestablished armed community patrols in Dallas. It is significant to note that AAMAN patrols were the first in the city, and possibly around the nation since Huey Newton’s Oakland-based group. Prince Hall apartment complex and the adjacent street Ledbetter Drive was the route used during these early days. The objectives were to discourage drug sales and violence and encourage harmony and economic development. Minkah, even established a skating rink for the kids in the area in order to have a constructive atmosphere to grow and mature. These patrols were welcomed by the community and of course disliked by downtown officials and the police department.

There is no political line of the Huey P. Newton Gun Club other than facts cited above, WE ARE NOT Black Nationalist, separatist, Guerilla Mainframe, or Panthers. The membership of the Gun Club is far and wide, not to be constrained by narrow debatable dogmatic ideas and political jargon. Advancement of Armed Self Defense for African Americans is supreme above anything else because we historically have been taught we should NOT have weapons, but to the contrary, we have a rich tradition of Black veterans and freedom fighters to lean upon as encouragement and direction. WE WILL NO LONGER BE VICTIM!!! Of ourselves or anyone else.

By GARRETT EPPS, November 19, 1970

Huey P. Newton, Supreme Commander of the Black Panther Party, told an audience of about 1200 at Boston College's Roberts Arena last night that the Panthers "would like to disclaim internationalism and become intercommunalists."

Newton's speech-which was sponsored by the B. C. Left Collective-was originally scheduled to start at 7:30 p. m. last night, but was delayed until 10 p. m. because of tight security precautions by the meeting's organizers.

As the crowd jammed around the arena's doors, Panther security guards admitted people singly and frisked them for weapons.

New Departure

Last night's speech, in which Newton enunciated the theory of "intercommunalism," seemed to represent a new departure in Panther ideology, which Newton said had formerly been one of "revolutionary internationalism."

Newton said last night that "every nation of the world has been violated by the ruling circle of North America, and every nation has thus been transformed. They are no longer nations."

"The Marxist global non-state has been established, but it is reactionary," he said.

"Socialism in the United States will not exist. Socialism will not exist anywhere in the world, because for socialism to exist, a socialist state must exist, and since states do not exist, how can socialism exist?"

Newton said that "progressive areas such as the People's Republic of China, the Democratic Republic of Vietnam in the North and the Provisional Revolutionary Government in the South" should not be called nations but "people's liberated territory."

One World

"The ruling circle have recognized that this is one world," he added. "They no longer acknowledge wars, they call them 'police actions.' They say we're having a civil disturbance because the people of Vietnam are rioting.

"The police are everywhere and they all wear the same uniforms, and all have the same job, which is to protect the interests of the ruling circle."

Newton said that the Panthers seek a world revolution which will establish a global group of interdependent socialist communities, or "intercommunalism within a cooperative framework." Under such a revolutionary system, he said, the people of the world would control "the technological machine which the imperialists have built."

'Lumpenproletariat'

The Panthers seek to organize the "unemployable" elements of society, or "lumpenproletariat," Newton said, because they form the only revolutionary class in technological society.

"As the ruling circle continue to build their technocracy, more and more of the proletariat will become unemployable, become lumpen, until they have become the popular class, the revolutionary class," he said.

Newton criticized "mechanical Marxists" who "would like to pretend that this is 1917."

"Marx was trying to warn Progressive Labor [Party] not to accept the past as the present or the future," he said.
Huey P Newton Gun Clubtag:hueypnewtongunclub.org,2005:Post/44076352016-10-07T05:55:00-05:002017-05-01T10:04:36-05:00“The Case of La’Shadion Anthony”

On June 10th 2016, In Arlington Texas La’Shadion Anthony was providing Armed security for a police brutality protest. Anthony, founder of an organization called “WORC” and a Huey P. Newton gun club member was ensuring that a demonstration for Christian Taylor was secure. The demonstration had grown to numbers of 75 marching down the street, had nearly ended peacefully. Suddenly Arlington Police Officers had approached Anthony asking him the reason his weapon did not have a sling. (In Texas there is NO law that states a weapon rifle or shotgun has to be in a sling) Anthony was then peacefully arrested. The officer that arrested him was attempting to find any charges to file against “LA” so they settled on “Disorderly Conduct” and “Resisting Arrest”, even though video of the incident actually showed it was the police officers that was the aggressor. On September 26th the case when before a judge in which “LA” attorney motioned for a mistrial which was agreed on by the judge due to lack of evidence. The District Attorney stated that he will bring charges back to brother “LA” and a new trial is date is October 31st, 2016 in Tarrant County.

Community Patrols are the basis of our collective network to reach the masses of people throughout the DFW area and the world. It is at times has been the very risk, but rewarding as we help instill hope in the hearts of Black People across the world, GMF admires the work of previous organizations and cadres before us. WE, however, wish to STAND on our own work and build an honest organization. The Community Empowerment Patrol is apart of this tedious process of reaching the masses of People.

Written By: Yafeuh Balogun
Huey P Newton Gun Clubtag:hueypnewtongunclub.org,2005:Post/42640212016-07-05T13:15:41-05:002017-08-03T07:52:24-05:00 Shut down EXXON in Oakcliff DallasRecently an Exxon employee in East Oakcliff, Dallas TX pulled out a gun on a customer in the community. This act is very unlawful so the community reached out to H.P.N.G.C. and the response was fair. The organization confronted the Exxon manager to let them know why what the employee did was not just and why the store should value the customers and people of the community they want to service.

Huey P Newton Gun Clubtag:hueypnewtongunclub.org,2005:Post/42057912016-05-31T21:05:00-05:002017-08-27T09:51:30-05:00Huey P.
In a public carpark, by a Texas mall, ‘Colonel’ Babu Omawale, rifle slung over shoulder, is pacing the line of his people. Standing to attention are 20 or 30 men and women, all African-American, mostly in military fatigues, and heavily armed with rifles and shotguns.

Omawale is addressing his troops: “We have a universal sign - the X - two fists in the air crossing each other. If you see that, that means lock and load your weapons.”

Across the line, the metallic clatter of weaponry: AR13 rifles like those used by the American armed forces, pump action shotguns, laser sights, tactical grips, bullet-proof vests.
